By the time the final result of NDA is declared, selection process of all engineering colleges is over. Therefore, a student eyeing engineering as a second option not only prepares for NDA, but also reaches the level of JEE-Mains which has been made compulsory for Indian Naval Academy. A good result in board exams also enables a non-medical student to be eligible for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES), which provides another opportunity to join the Armed Forces as an Officer.
